some headstrong teenager
Feb. 8th, 2013 08:59 pmListening can get a person pretty far along in Darrow. People aren't shy about conversation in the city, milling about without hardly a care in the world, content to live the lives that have been laid out in front of them, straight and narrow paths completely opposite to all that Korra's known in her life. Secrets are easily shared without preamble, and by listening to the conversations of those around her, Korra's been able to find many places of interest. She's learned to navigate without having to peek inside windows or put words together.
She knows this city almost as well as the back of her hand, and it's only been months since her arrival.
Familiarity isn't enough, though. It doesn't settle the unease that runs underneath her skin, the one that makes wandering the streets unsettling every single day. When she passes by a police officer one day, looking so different than all of those she's known from her time in Republic City, she can't help it — she listens.
Eventually, she finds their headquarters.
With little preamble, Korra strides inside, shoulders squared and jaw set as she glances around and steps up to the front desk, waiting for someone to acknowledge her.
She's here to finally get a job.
