you can breathe underwater
Feb. 9th, 2013 09:41 pmMost people are frightened of the snow that's been falling down in torrents.
To Korra, it's like being able to breathe again.
It's not that blizzards aren't dangerous to people in the South Pole. They've lost plenty of people to the frigid cold and wintry winds over the years, people too confident in their own abilities to realize that their bodies were slowing down in the freezing temperatures. But Korra's pretty sure that she knows how to handle the cold better than almost anyone else in this city, and the shock of the air against her face when she steps outside is nothing short of exhilarating.
"C'mon, Naga, let's go to the park."
There are other benefits to being out in this weather as well. People aren't stepping outside just yet, for the most part. It isn't hard to find a snowfall of blinding white, far off into the center of the park that no one would be suspicious if Korra decided to have a bit of fun.
So she does.
Clearing out a space on the field, Korra starts to work on her forms, dancing in place and raising the snow around her in long arcs, melting some back into water and refreezing them into spikes of ice, raining them down regularly. Naga barks to the side, rolling in the snow.
She feels more at home than she has since she arrived.
